Outline planning permission was granted in December 2006 for nearly 8 million sq ft of land to be called King’s Cross Central. This includes up to 25 large office buildings, 20 new streets, 10 new public spaces, the restoration and refurbishment of 20 historic buildings and structures, and up to 2,000 homes. The development company, Argent King’s Cross, have to apply for detailed planning permission for each individual section of this area. This enables LB Camden to apply appropriate planning law including public consultation for each individual planning application.
The area has been divided into ‘development zones’, each zone is given a code (click on graphic to enlarge):

Building T1: 1-3 Canal Street, a new energy centre and electrical substation, a 417 space multi-storey car park, a multi-use games area, residential development totalling 102 units (48 private ownership, 34 social rented and up to 20 intermediate affordable), retail units cafes, and bars together with new areas of adjacent public space.
